Hey Guys! First time posting...

So here's the deal. I've got decent / borderline stats (3.9 GPA, 29 MCAT, business / finance major, good extracurriculars / recs). I'm a Texas resident and applied to all the Texas schools + 20 others (some of the secondaries were just sent in). Problem is that I haven't gotten a SINGLE invitation for an interview. This is troublesome, of course, and I'm wondering if its time for me to panic. Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks!

When did you complete applications at your schools?

How will panicking help? Carefully considering Plan B options is in order for all med school applicants, not just those with no interviews. But try and relax a little - it's still quite early in the interview season.

P.S. How is a 3.9 borderline?

Am already working on Plan B (looking for a job). But by borderline, I meant the MCAT score 🙂 . I sent in my primaries at the end of July, and finished by Texas secondaries by early September (it took a little while b/c I studied abroad last semester and my grades did not come in until Sep). Since then, I have been working on my other secondaries, and most have been submitted btwn Sep 7-Sep.23rd. I agree that for the other schools, it's still early. But for Texas schools maybe not? Thanks again for the suggestions.

no. it is not time for you to panic. if you dont have one by the end of october, then you can panic.

It's always good to have a backup plan but it's too early to be convinced that you won't get in anywhere. Give it time. And check out mdapplicants.com. Lots of applicants get into medschool with lower MCAT scores than 29. Keep the faith.

What are the non-cognitive (i.e. not gpa, not mcat, not coursework/major/school) aspects of your application? Clinical contact, research, volunteering, character, motivation, maturity, personality - these things are also very important.

I hope you get some good news soon! :luck:
