Is it True that as of Feb 1st other Schools Know

Is it true that as of Feb 1st other schools know where you have acceptances at?

Because, if you are still waiting to hear back from a school you might want more, do you think that it could negatively impact you if they see that you are holding 3seats, 2 or 1? They might think that you are already in so why not give it to someone that will surely take the spot.

Legally they should only know after May 15th. But I mean, adcoms can talk off the record, though I really doubt any single applicant or set of applicants is so urgent as to warrant illicit consideration.

I thought that my pre-med advisor said that they start sharing lists after March 15th, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

I read somewhere on SDN that they know by April 15. Then they harass you starting May 15.
