Is it worthy to take USMLE Step 3 before applying?

Hi everyone,

I am IMG, graduated 2015. Steps score are 236/252 and 2nd attempt. I am doing research at Brigham and Women's Hospital since January, 4 observerships, 4 LOR and I feel ready to apply to Internal Medicine.

Is it a good idea to take the Step 3? I have been studying for it because I thought that it could help to eliminate my red flag (first CS failed), but I do not want to screw everything up either!

Hey, I am in the same position as well. I failed step 1 but other steps are 1st attempt. I have great letters of recommendations (from PD as well), have experience a lot in USA also. If you have taken step 3 so far, let me know. Planning to take it by the end of September. Thanks in advance!
