So I finished my first semester at my State college, and ended up with a 3.79 GPA, A's in everything except a B+ in gen chem 1. I also have 54 credits transferring into college from both a community and a 4-year college (all A's), through my high school's dual enrollment program, which ranges from 3-5 credits per class (with a couple of 1-credit labs). Do you think that this gpa is good for the first semester? Also, do you think it is possible to have an upward GPA trend in Gen Chem 2, or will it be harder, especially given my Gen Chem 1 grade?

Thanks!

Your GPA is fine. Just keep in mind that the coursework will get progressively more difficult. The intro level classes tend to be weed-out and will have a steep curve. Just keep working hard. The med school committees will be more interested in the grades from your 4 year State college, and less focused on the grades from high school/community college.

You got a B+??

Seriously, don't panic over a B+. GPA upward trends usually start at a 3.0 for it to matter (IMO). You have a ways to go to bomb your GPA that much. 🙂

Yes it's great. Also keep in mind that one does not need a 4.0 to get into Medical school.
