I've just recently learned about PATBooster and have heard amazing things about it from people at my school. I've been hearing it's the best resource for the PAT but I don't know if I want to spend extra money on PATBooster when I already have DATBootcamp. How does PATBooster compare to DATBootcamp? And is it really worth it?

I used both, PATBooster is miles ahead of DATBootcamp and the other DAT companies in every single way. The videos, strategies, generators, and questions are much higher quality on PATBooster than Bootcamp or anyone else. Honestly, it's not even a fair comparison

OP I would highly recommend checking it out, honestly you would be at a disadvantage not using it

If you try both and compare them, it's pretty obvious PATBooster is significantly better than DATbootcamp's PAT all around. I would spend the extra $80 to get a higher PAT score, it's totally worth it considering it can help you get into a better dental school of your choice

Ya I noticed that too and so I bought it. Would you recommend using PATBooster over DATBootcamp's PAT?

Definitely yes, Booster is so much better. Think of PATBooster as your endodontist (root canal specialist) and Bootcamp as a general dentist.
Who would you rather go to for root canal advice?

I've never used PATBooster but just by comparing the two, PATBooster definitely looks a lot more useful than Bootcamp.

On a side note, Bootcamp hasn't changed their questions since 2013, I see the exact same questions. So much for being representative...

About a week and a half before I took my DAT (which I took on 04/30) I read a breakdown from withlove on SDN that talked about how different the real DAT was from the bootcamp PAT tests. I started stressing out after reading this breakdown. I was wishing I had found PATBooster earlier, because I thought I was going to fail. I was seriously debating getting PATBooster but I knew it would be a waste of money since I only had a few days until my test. I took my test and got a 28 on my PAT section.

Long story short you can still do well without PATBooster. That being said I 100% agree with withlove’s PAT breakdown: DAT Bootcamp’s PAT is outdated and not representative of the real DAT. I also found the real DAT to be harder in some of the PAT sections (for me keyholes, hole punching, and TFE were harder on the real DAT than BC). I’ve never used PATbooster but I looked at the website and it looked awesome! It looked as if you could really focus on the areas that you’re weakest in (like obtuse angles), something that was difficult with bootcamp.

So it’s not necessary to get PATBooster to do well on the DAT PAT section, but when it comes to the PAT section the more practice you get the better off you will be. Have you taken a PAT test yet? If you have taken a BC PAT test, what score did you get?

You should also create a strategy for taking the PAT section. For example, I skipped the keyhole section and completed every other section in order before returning to keyholes, since keyholes took me the longest. I also practiced angler ranking, hole punching, and cube counting nearly everyday (you should be able to get through these 3 sections super fast).

Here’s some more advice: don’t look at DAT breakdowns close to your test date, it does nothing but stress you out.

Even if you have Bootcamp, I would highly recommend getting PATBooster. It's been a tremendous help for me since it covers better strategies and has way better features that bootcamp simply doesn't have. You should try it for a day and compare it to bootcamp, I literally stopped using bootcamp after using booster.

25 on the PAT.

I don't know anything about the PAT Booster, but I absolutely loved DAT Bootcamp's strategy tips and tricks. Every section gave me something to focus on and I felt very confident on this section when I took the real thing. If you already have Bootcamp I would highly recommend giving it a shot before you invest more money.

I'm using PATBooster and I really like it. I tried the PAT on DATBootcamp and it felt very underwhelming compared to PATBooster but i'm confused why people in the Bootcamp group are saying Bootcamp is all you need? If Im using PATBooster, should I bother getting DATBootcamp too? I really don't want to spend $500 on DATBootcamp :(

I think you can find coupons that bring the price down to $347...which is still quite a bit. I’ve never used PATbooster, but bootcamp got me a good PAT score and many people have also gotten good scores with PAT booster. I think as long as you’re getting a lot of practice then you should be fine. If you were thinking of getting DAT bootcamp only for the PAT section and you already bought PAT booster then stick with PATbooster.

I wouldn't bother switching. PATBooster is way better than DATBootcamp's PAT from my experience.

PATbooster is pretty good, I just do not like the TFE explanations. It is really hard to follow the video for TFE. Any suggestions on TFE tutorials?

Contact Shahed B , the owner, directly my students tell me he is very approachable and takes time to help. FYI, we are not affiliated, just passing along info I have heard from my students.

Good luck to you..I personally find PAT very challenging, but it it s part of the DAT you must get through.

What did you do to score a 30? I'm really struggling with the PAT while scoring 16-18 on Booster and BC. Do you know which is more representative?

I thought Booster was more representative compared to BC. I watched all the videos, did generators daily, and completed the practice tests under timed conditions. Any question I got wrong, I went through it again.

This may be an obvious question but how do you know you're ready for the real dat as far as the PAT. I'm probably getting 15-20 right for every 5-7 wrong. Obviously i'd still like to improve but is that pretty good? Pretty similar questions compared to Dat or are some hard then the dat? Im averaging about 20-30 seconds per question as well.

Also got a 30. Experiment! Don't be afraid to try your own strategies. Some will be useless but some will be very useful. Use strategies other people have used as a starting point. Sometimes the same type of questions may benefit from different strategies. Maybe strategy A works great for acute angles but strategy B works better for right angles, and strategy C works best for really larger obtuse angles close to 180deg but not those near 135deg. Don't rigidly force yourself to use a single strategy.

Another way to make the most of your practice is during review after a practice test. Without looking at explanations, but knowing what answer is correct, explain to yourself why the wrong answers are wrong. Try to figure it out for yourself. Also try to determine why you didn't choose a certain answer in the first place. For a keyhole, for example, maybe you didn't pay enough attention to the proportions which caused you to not notice some differentiating factor between the right and wrong answers.

I felt that most sections were very comparable but got somewhat higher scores in PATBooster. Honestly, if you can afford it and already have Bootcamp, get PATBooster as well. The extra practice made me a lot more confident.

Considering it's been nearly a year since this post began, I hope you've taken and done well on the DAT! This response if more for those taking the exam going forwards, if we ever make it out of this quarantine.

After I exhausted all of the free resources I could find online, I found PATBooster incredibly helpful. I hated the PAT section, and I found the questions and generators on their site very helpful in building skills and starting to understand where I was going wrong (or right). Like 0Mik3cho said, the best strategies are the ones you make yourself. I ended up having to visualize all of the different problems sets in my own way to start getting them right. There are plenty of techniques out there though. I know PATBooster has some videos that are helpful in that regard, and many SDN users have posted their techniques on this website in both their breakdowns and separate posts. I know I did.

I hope this helps out! Definitely think PATBooster's PAT section is superior to any other paid PAT resource out there at the moment. Definitely more than BC I'd say, considering this is more up to date.

I had a few of my students use it and increased their PAT by 3-6 points. I think the 6 point change was also because that particular person didn't really study for PAT at all before the program.
