About a week and a half before I took my DAT (which I took on 04/30) I read a breakdown from withlove on SDN that talked about how different the real DAT was from the bootcamp PAT tests. I started stressing out after reading this breakdown. I was wishing I had found PATBooster earlier, because I thought I was going to fail. I was seriously debating getting PATBooster but I knew it would be a waste of money since I only had a few days until my test. I took my test and got a 28 on my PAT section.
Long story short you can still do well without PATBooster. That being said I 100% agree with withlove’s PAT breakdown: DAT Bootcamp’s PAT is outdated and not representative of the real DAT. I also found the real DAT to be harder in some of the PAT sections (for me keyholes, hole punching, and TFE were harder on the real DAT than BC). I’ve never used PATbooster but I looked at the website and it looked awesome! It looked as if you could really focus on the areas that you’re weakest in (like obtuse angles), something that was difficult with bootcamp.
So it’s not necessary to get PATBooster to do well on the DAT PAT section, but when it comes to the PAT section the more practice you get the better off you will be. Have you taken a PAT test yet? If you have taken a BC PAT test, what score did you get?
You should also create a strategy for taking the PAT section. For example, I skipped the keyhole section and completed every other section in order before returning to keyholes, since keyholes took me the longest. I also practiced angler ranking, hole punching, and cube counting nearly everyday (you should be able to get through these 3 sections super fast).
Here’s some more advice: don’t look at DAT breakdowns close to your test date, it does nothing but stress you out.
