Is submitting an abstract worthy of an update to “Needy” medical schools that value communication?

I recently interviewed at a school that really values ongoing communication. Is it worth submitting an update that I submitted a poster abstract to a conference or should I wait until I hear back on if it was accepted even though that wont be until next year?
