Another addiction specialist in the community calls me and leaves me a VM stating that her non adherent patient on Suboxone claimed to have scheduled an initial appointment with me. She wants to ensure that he has follow up after she closes his chart. However, she thinks he is lying about having scheduled an appointment with me. I checked my schedule and do not have any upcoming Suboxone intakes. She wants me to call her to confirm his appointment. Should I call this doctor back and say I don't know this patient or is this somehow breaking confidentiality?

As you don't know the patient I don't know how they could say you broke their confidentiality. Regarding the inverse, I'm not certain and I've often wondered.
