The free clinic in our city has a position opening up for someone to do lab testing (of the fluid samples from patients).

Would this count as a clinical experience?

Applying Lizzy M's quote where I would be smelling the patient, but not directly, that would lead me to say no.

I think schools want direct patient contact for "clinical experience" so I'm going to vote no.

That is a nice technicality you have found in the smelling the patients quote though .

Are you obtaining the samples directly from the pt as well? If yes, then yes, it's clinical.

If no, not really, sorry.

At the premed level the definition of "clinical" has a lot to do w/ your actual interaction w/ sick or injured individuals as well as with the [other] staff taking direct care of the individual.
