Is this connection worth pursuing?

I have a connection at a school I am waitlisted at that could get me face time with the dean.

Is this worth pursuing at all? Or am I just setting myself up for more failure by even entertaining the idea?

Most admissions deans don't even vote.
The Dean must not exert undue influence on the process per LCME .

At best, it will lead to a polite interview, to be followed by a polite spot on the wait list, and thence followed by an even more polite rejection.
