I am pretty sure I will get the role as a team leader in the hospital. I do also plan to shadow during the winter breaks.

Being actually involved goes a lot farther than being in clubs for resume padding. If you have another interest and have the time to pursue it, do it. If not, don't. No one says that all of your ECs have to be directly medical related. If you like the environment or whatever, help out. You'll look more well rounded in that aspect, and definitely give you something to talk about to the ADCOM.
