I just read on another post that an interview invite sent through email could possibly be filtered out as spam. Has anyone heard of this before?

Depends on your email programs and what your spam filters are set on. Thy probably shouldn't be but it's possible. If you're worried about it and you get lots of spam...you can always set a folder that looks for .edu email addressed and medicine, medical or med school keywords in the email. It's pretty unlikely a med school is going to send you an email that doesn't contain the work medical or medicine or something in it.
