Hey sorry if this has been beaten to death, but with deposits coming up, I just would like to get some feedback or advice to maybe see in more perspectives.

I got into Columbia and a public school, and I want to specialize, but is the extra 100k price difference plus interest worth the name and higher chance to specialize? Is the income in let's say OMFS so much that it's worth adding the debt to secure the higher pay of an OMFS career? Or is the opportunity difference so little that it's just crazy to even think twice about Columbia? The public school is pass/fail with med students like Columbia, but then shouldn't I rank the schools at least with a significance to their med school ranking? If so, Columbia far exceeds the public school. Please share your thoughts.

Edit: The public school is Connecticut btw

uconn is known for producing many specialists due to their curriculum being similar to columbia. I met two OMFS hopefuls during my interview day alone (2nd-3rd year students), one even took that exam I cant remember on top of my head.

Do you remember your UCONN interview day? o_O

I don't think anyone here can accurately assess how attending one school vs another will affect your chances at an OMFS residency, so ill leave you with this. If you are dead-set on OMFS and willing to do whatever it takes, UConn will certainly allow you to accomplish this. Furthermore, if you are not able to make it for whatever reason (change your mind, can't get the grades, etc.) you will have less debt.

That you got into Columbia probably means you have what it takes to specialize at anywhere you go.

Loan money is not lottery money! Go to the cheaper school!
