I made the most foolish mistake of my entire application cycle. After coming so far, I neglected to send thankyou letters to my interviewers at Jefferson. I was waitlisted. Should I still send the letters post decision? Am I overreacting--or was the letter debacle the reason i was waitlisted? I am an idiot.

I'm not sure if i'm making this post in the write frame of mind--so if anyone has gotten into Jefferson w/o writting thankyou letters please or thinks i'm acting neurotic, please speak up.

freudian slip. *writting this post in the right frame of mind*😕

I can't believe they even gave you a waitlist spot w/o a thank you note. If i were you, i'd work to remedy this situation:
1. Go down to FedEx
2. slice off your left ear
3. send to the Dean of Admissions at Jeff
4. hope for the best.

Sorry about your waitlist, but waitlisting you was not due to the lack of appreciation cards and more due to your stats.

Sorry

A lot of people move off the waitlist from what I hear.

Good luck

sorry to hear about your waitlist situation

i was accepted to jefferson
and i never sent in thank you note
i was planning to
but kept putting it off
and then 1-2 weeks after my interview
i got an acceptance card

hope they accept you in the end

maybe instead of thank you note
u can update your file with them?
like any extra activities or semester grades
that they made now not be aware of

and if you really wanna go
you might consider a LOI

I too am waitlisted at Jefferson, but I did send a thank-you card to my interviewer. Jeff is probably my top choice out of the schools I interviewed at, so I really would like to get in off of the waitlist.

good luck to us

Thank you letters are not the answer. I hope you get off the waitlist, but the best way to do that is to send in postive updates about your application and keep portraying your interest in the school.

don't send them now, it'll only seem awkward.

I was accepted before I could finish writing the thank you letter. I sent my thank you a few days ago, more than a month after being accepted, and don't feel like it's excessively late.

If Jefferson is the school you want to go to, a letter of intent might do more good than a thank you note.

This said, a thank you letter shouldn't be sent to improve your chances of acceptance, it should be sent if you are sincerely appreciative, So, if you are glad to have interviewed with your particular interviewer, and you feel like writing a letter, it's probably not too late.

Thanks for the responses. I am certain that the failure of writting the letters had a marginal effect, if any after reading the posts. I'll send thankyou letters despite being ex-post, and continue to update them with transcripts.

the comment about my stats, though pointed, was very apt. My mcats were the avg to above avg range for the school, my gpa a little below. How you saw this w/o soliciting my stats escapes me.

again, many thanks.

Email Dr. Clara Callahan and express your interest this way. I know this has worked for some people (n=4). Don't do the letter, but email. Sounds counterintuitive, but she is used to applicants expressing their interest this way.

good luck! Jeff is a wonderful school.
