To all of you at Jeff or who knows jeff: please let me know what the strengths of the school are, and how do you think it compares to top schools.

Jefferson...

It has tremendous research. The Bluemle Life Science building is really top notch. Every one of the medschool faculty are on an NIH grant. Thus all of them are not only knowledgable, but they are at the cusp of what is new and cutting edge.

The facilities are adequate, but they aren't new and fancy. They're somewhat old. There is alot of history at Jefferson. The clinical experience rivals that of any top school. It's right in the middle of Center City, and you literally have access to everything.

The "Commons" as it is called is the fitness center. It is well equipped, but again it is rather old, and it isn't too fancy.

Jefferson apartments, Orlowitz... Are often described as being "slums" but they are set to be revamped in the near future.

Jefferson has a pretty impressive residency match list. Plus, it has the largest number of living alumni of any medical school. Thats got to help with networking and connections. The location is great, one of the few med schools I interviewed in that wasn't located in the worst area of the city. Plus, I think that Philadelphia is a great city.

Jefferson is pretty well respected in Philly even though everyone lives in the shadows of UPenn.

bump--for the purpose of acquiring more insight from the rest of you.
