I would like to hear from any current Jefferson students, especially 3rd and 4th years, who would be willing to talk to me. I was very impressed by the school when I was there, but I've also heard a number of mixed things about it. This morning somebody told me that the 4th years she talked to discussed multiple classmates failing their boards, and a basic dissatisfaction with the school. The students I met when I interviewed seemed to like the school a lot, but this person this morning said that the 3rd and 4th year students may not as much.

I'm really looking for reasons to love Jefferson, so I'd like to hear from anybody with info! Thanks 👍

Same here.. if any 3rd or 4th years are willing to get grilled a bit by questions i'd really appreciate it. I really think after getting their acceptance that it's my first choice and its where i'll be next year, just want to confirm a few things.

Hi guys,

I'm a fourth year at Jeff and I have been really happy with the school. I'll do the best I can to answer any questions you may have.

I don't actually know how many of my classmates failed the boards (not many), but there is a class in the second year that has a pretty high correlation with how you do on the boards I'm told. So at least you have an idea if you're in danger of possibly failing. Our class actually did very well overall. Can't remember the average, but it was above the national average. Don't know how the third years did. The curriculum has changed a lot over the last few years, it looks like for the better, and lucky for you it's been around long enough so that you won't be experimental.

As for a general dissatisfaction, I really think that in general people just like to complain. The administration is for the most part very supportive and in my personal observation they go out of their way to help the students. I think that most of the complaints come from people who fail classes and have to repeat. I haven't had this experience, so I can't speak to it, but I do know that there are resources available for help (free tutors, some instructors will go out of their way to help IF you ask, etc). I challenge you to find a completely content group of third and fourth year students (who are being truthful with you).

It's a great school (albeit expensive). We get amazing clinical training. I feel confident going into interview season and the match and even into residency. I would definitely do it again. Anyway, like I said, I'll try my best to answer your questions. BTW congrats on being accepted. Feels good, doesn't it?

Thanks so much for your response! I appreciate getting this info straight from somebody who knows what she's talking about (hearsay is never good). It's particularly nice to hear that you feel like your clinical training has been great. I don't really think I have any other specific questions. I'd also love to hear from more students, if they're around.

thanks 👍

The 2 physicians I have the most respect for, who inspired me to go into medicine from a totally different career (music) are both graduates from Jefferson. If I got in there, I would be thrilled to go.

I'm a first year at Jefferson - I freakin' love it. Granted i haven't taken my boards yet, but i just finished anatomy and i feel pretty prepared for that aspect of Step 1. PM if i can answer any specific questions.
