my situation is like this..i have a degree from overseas but i am not intending to use it when i apply this year..in the US i have 45 hours untill now...15 hours gradutate courses in biology, and the rest are random..my GPA is 3.7, i want to apply for this year cycle..did anyone got in with 48 hours..plz advise..

Most schools require around 72 credit hours and they are undergrad courses. It's good that you are taking graduate courses and this will make you more competitive to get an interview. You need to look at the schools you want to apply and talk to them to see if any of the classes you have already taken will apply to their pre-req list. Also, see if you can use any credits from your overseas degree. You never know, they might end up keeping you from having to take more classes. 😉

thanks for ur reply man..well my credits from overseas are bad and will effect my GPA ..so they told me because it is overseas i have the option of not use it..the courses i have taken so far are

-application of biotechnology 3---graduate
-immunology 5---graduate
-cell biology 5-----graduate
-microbiology 5---gradeuate
-human anatomy 4
-physics1 5
-chemistry1 5
-human diseases 4
-precalculus 5
-developmental biology 5---graduate

my GPA in all of these is 3.76 ....what u think coz ur pharmacy student..

oh u love United..me too..they are the best team in the world...hope c.ronaldo will not leave though..it is a boring saga 😱

intro microbiology isn't graduate level

there are many prereqs you are still missing... such as english, humanities, calc, etc

Did you take ochem? what does chemistry1 5 mean? It seems like Adcoms care a lot about ochem, so if you don't have any done I would work on that next year and apply for 2010. I would apply to a few of your top schools this year and talk to them if you can apply or not before you do.

I agree with this comment.

The OP didn't say it was intro to microbiology, just microbiology.

As for manutdmax, I don't know what those courses are. I don't even know if any schools will accept the graduate courses. If they do accept them, you have a solid GPA that will get you interviews at most of the schools you apply to so long as you also get above 85 or so on the PCAT.

I'm assuming he meant upperdivision not graduate and the OP has bigger problems if he took a bunch of classes that do not meet the prerequisites, because he would probably have to start all over.

no,,the courses i took are graduate courses,,i am doing my masters degree, and i dont want ot wait until next year if i can apply this year...what you guys think i should do now..

I really don't think there is a way around doing the prerequisites. You won't be accepted if you don't meet their minimum requirement which is to take those undergraduate level courses as they won't have courses equivalent to graduate level courses, but you should ask them directly as some may be okay. If they don't see general chemistry or organic chemistry anywhere in your transcript you don't meet their minimum requirement.

From what I can tell you have two options:
1. Include overseas transcripts to meet the prereqs to apply this year, but have lower GPA (assuming you can't do what irishrxman said and just pick and choose which to include)

2. If allowed, either drop graduate school or take prereqs at a CC concurrently and apply once they are done.

thanks lee.

..well no ..as you said..no matter what i should complete my prerequistes before entering pharmacy school, but i want to apply this summer with what i have so far here in usa- listed above-, if i got accepted this summer i will finish my master and finish prerequsites next year before entering..i asked several schools on whether i can choose some of my courses to meet the list, they said No...if i will use it then they will use the whole grades, if they used the whole grades..my GPA will drop severly,,from 3.7 now..to 2.6...what i should do

You cannot use the 2.6 GPA as that does not even meet the minimum requirements to get your application looked at by most schools. I would just wait until I finished prereqs. You had WES (world education services) already evaluate your transcript from overseas?

I would just not use the overseas transcript, that is all.

yeah it has been evaluated from WES and everything is ok...except that if they use it which they said it is opitional to me,,my GPA will drop to 2.6, and it will take long time to get it above 3.00..what u think ...thanks

Absolutely do not use the international transcript!! I read some of your other posts and it seems like you failed Calculus I, was that here (in the US) or over there? That is already a big black mark.
