I'm not sure who all the Mods are or how they are selected or who makes the seperate forums. But, it might be nice to go ahead and make a seperate forum link similar to what was done for plastics for the following:

Neurosurgery
Orthopedic surgery
Otolaryngology
Urology

And, eventually, should the integrated 6 year CT, vasc, pedes programs actually become reality, you might want to make those as well.

Just a thought

There's just not enough volume to support breaking surgery up into 15 different specialties for that. Things seem to be pretty appropriate with the surgery & surgery subspecialties heading

I agree. Why even have the lonely plastics forum?

Apparently they (Lee, Kimberli,et al) had repeated requests for it from users. I didn't think it would get enough traffic to warrant it, but I agreed to moderate it if they wanted to.

That's fine. Though, I didn't see having 4 more forums right under plastics as being too much of a break. there does seem to be quite a bit of subspecialty specific threads in here though. Also, I think the heading would remain the same because that is how I get to the plastics forum so I don't think it would have to be any different with the addition of 4 forums under the plastics forum. In any event, guess the long and short answer is NO.
