Hi,

Just received a C- from O Chem II. I'm very disappointed in myself. I'm 2% away from a C. I hope that everyone else went well. I don't think I will have a chance for any pharmacy school anywhere. My GPA is only 3.08.

If I don't get in, what will I do? Should I work at a micro lab somewhere and reapply again? Or should I take classes at CC and work part time in a lab somewhere, and then reapply?

My Christmas break is ruined!!!

Don't let yourself get too down over a C-. There are lots of students that get accepted with C-'s and worse. The big picture is what matters most.

A C is nothing. I know of a girl who got a C in biology I and got admitted to UCSF med school. Relax and make sure you do well in your other classes.

I got a B in Biology I 🙁
I hope they take me when I apply next year. I am planning to do really well on the PCAT, I hope. My GPA is 3.4, not so good...

Since a C- is still passing, go ahead and take OChem II and give it your absolute best... then during the Academic Update, put that you are planning to retake OChem I. It doesn't matter if you aren't actually doing this... it's not set in stone, but it indicates to schools that you are prepared and willing to retake that course if necessary.
It's too early to give up!

I also did poorly on my chemistry classes in undergrad. Got mostly B's and C's in General chem and a C- in my first organic class. I applied to pharmacy school right after undergrad and not suprisingly, I didn't get accepted. I had to attend a Master's program in chemistry in addition to all kinds of extra-curricular activities to make myself more competitive this year. Hopefully all this work pays off...we'll see....anyways....my point is that if there is a will there is always a way.

Thank you for all of your supports/suggestions. It's my first time taking Organic chemistry II. I received a B from O CHEM I, and I went in to O Chem II with high hope. I'll re-take the course and study harder.

Oops... I thought you got a C- in OChem I.... what I mean then is to see if you get accepted with that but put that you plan to retake it. You may not have to... you get it 🙂 haha sorry!

Don't want to sound nosy, but what was your PCAT score? 🙂

My current GPA right now is 3.24 and I'm going to take the PCAT in January. I know my GPA is low, but whatever.

Myself, I hate those C-/C, B-/B, ...... If it's a B, it's a B. 🙁

I mean kudos for those who are getting A+, but I feel bad for others who are not getting the grades that they want.

Anyhow, do retake Orgo II. In the mean time, are you planning to take the PCAT soon, jiepper?

My coworker took Orgo II at a community college and got into UM just fine 🙂 I suggest you should look into that.

+++++++++++++

C-, you have to take the course over. pharmacy schools do not accept any pre-req below a C..........

Mmm I think it depends on the school. Some places allow for C-, but regardless the OP should probably still take it again, if they're serious about going to pharmacy school.
