I say gj. Some up-tight workaholic probably will try to berate themselves for not getting that A. ha ha. My last grade for a paper I wrote came out to be a B+ last month. But I was like " fk this sht, at least I got the degree" :D

If you're doing gen chem and you like physics, you'll be fine. I couldn't stand gen chem, its a lot of random things thrown at you. I'm in organic now and our teacher isn't very good so it makes it harder than it needs to be. Gnashing of teeth for a B-.

Pretty sure if I make a B in post bacc I'd feel like I'm a failure. I'm post bacc for God's sake, when I'm not setting the curves I should have a very good excuse, like "I've been spliting time between studying for these 5-6 classes and the MCAT, and volunteering, and trying to keep a healthy marriage together".

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I absolutely felt like this. It was actually a source of motivation for me.

Haha, yea I started becoming a tad robotic myself. Luckily, I lived a mile from the first casino in atlantic city. That made it pretty darn easy to loosen up when I found like I was a bit too tightly wound. The other thing I started doing to bring some humanity back into my academics was I started using what I learned to build stuff (mainly physics). Putting holes through plywood with your mcgyver'ed rail gun is pretty fun. More fun than that was the day the engineering guys and I decided to build a hover water-craft (probably not the best name for what we built but we'll call it that) out of industrial fans and an old boat frame, armed it with an industrial pump that put out 100 gallons per minute, and invaded the schools annual defacto sail boat race with a pirate flag on our boat, ski masks, and plastic swords. We threw each boat a small bucket before we started flooding their boats and sped away after they realized we weren't out to sink them. After 10 minutes or so of this, we bulletted down the opposite end of the lack, pulled the boat out of the water and started amassing some alibis. See, prereqs CAN be fun. (Warning: Do not do this yourself. The engineers I was working with were brilliant.)

Precisely the reason I didn't take Chemistry this summer; I think you did much better in 9 weeks than I would have. Fingers crossed you get the A-!!

Yeah, wouldn't particularly recommend it unless you're okay with spending the whole time doing chemistry. Definitely don't expect much free time.

Just got the bump! A-! Time for round three...as much as I hate doing all this in a condensed fashion, it is awesome that I will be done with a year's worth of chemistry....only to take on the o-chem beast this fall.

I don't like physics at all, not something that my brain just naturally gravitates towards. With that said, I got an A in Phys 1 over the summer.

Onto Phys 2 and Orgo 1 this Fall and MCAT study come January.

I felt that way... then, I got a B in the six week summer organic class. Big mistake to take that class during the summer. Don't do it, people! Organic is 100x more boring and tedious than Physics, lol. Killed my streak of As in premed classes. :(

Hopefully acing Organic II will make up for it.

I got a B-. I have As in Bio 1&2, and Chem 1&2, so my sGPA is doing fine. Did I mention that I hate physics and am totally relieved I didn't get a C?

You survived! Physics is a beast. 1 semester down, 1 to go. Fortunately, Physics II is totally different, like someone said. I found it even more interesting than Physics I, although it's more abstract.

I can't imagine doing organic over the summer, gen chem is enough on its own in 9 weeks. I'd say a B is pretty good!

Is each semester 6 weeks? I'm on my 3rd quarter which are 3 weeks each. 2 to go.

You guys have 4 quarters in a summer session? Is that how it works?

Two of the summer sessions at my school are 6 weeks. There is a 10 week session for Physics I. Not sure why there isn't a 10 week session for Organic Chem I. I thought it was a harder class than Physics I.

Interesting, no just 3 quarters, I'm done in two weeks. Then organic in the fall.

Is your target date for applying to medical school, June 2013? If so, I don't blame you for biting the bullet and taking o-chem I over the summer. Since you already have straight As, one or two Bs won't kill your sGPA.

Also, i can't comment on which is easier, Physics or O-chem, since I haven't taken o-chem yet; but I have family members who are in medical school and they told me they thought physics was more difficult than o-chem. I guess everybody is different.

I feel your pain. I just completed Orgo I & II w/ lab this summer (4 1/2 weeks each)...and am now pretty sure I am going to end with a B in Orgo II. Scratched the third exam pretty bad, and don't think I did well enough on the ACS final to compensate.

                                I know one B in my post-bacc career isn't going to sink me...but still...ugh.
