I just took the GRE test to apply to physical therapy schools and I got a 156 on the math part and a 150 on the verbal for a total 306. Not sure if this is good or bad to apply to PT schools with in Texas. Does anyone have any insight on my score?

P.S I was just curious to see what my chances of getting into PT schools were
Overall GPA:3.6
Science GPA:3.29

Volunteer hrs ~500

You can check out the GPAs thread in the "stickies" section to get an idea of what kind of GPAs and GRE scores people have and which schools they got into. This is the score conversion chart for the new GRE to see the equivalent scores from the old GRE and percentile rankings. Your scores are pretty decent for PT school.

Thanks for the conversion chart. I know what I got in terms of the old gre score. I am glad I scored decent on the exam. Do you know what the average gre scores for PT schools are? One of my friends told me that it was 150 verbal and 150 math. Not sure if this is completely accurate.

Each school has different averages for accepted students as well as different minimum scores. If you look in the PTCAS directory of schools, you can see the average GRE scores for some of the schools. For example, at NAU the average scores for accepted students are 153 V 151 Q 4.0 AW, while their minimum scores are lower. Here's the directory if you want to take a look.

Since Texas schools don't participate in PTCAS, you can check their websites for this info, or email or call the schools to ask for the average GRE scores. In my experience, schools are happy to provide this type of info to prospective students.

most take 50%ile and above............each cycle the 50% is based on those that took the test. But last year w/ the new testing it ran about 150 got math and verbal. You should be in good shape. Average acceptance scores are just that-average-there will be those that scored below and above.
