Ok guys. I just took the DAT's today...not happy at all. I ended up getting:

AA = 20
Bio = 18 (WTF?!?!)
GChem = 21 (somewhat satisfied)
OChem = 17 (seriously, WTF?!?!?!!)
RC = 22
QR = 21
PA = 20 (angle ranking killed me for sure!)
TS = 20

The reason why I wasn't happy was because I expected on getting 20's across the science portions, but obviously I f'd up like a f'n idiot. My GPA is 2.98, science around 2.85, and I have a B.S in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. You guys think I could get a interview with these stats? Be honest guys...I want the brutal truth. I think I can take it... 🙁

You did a great job, don't be so hard on yourself. Your scores were great and I'm sure all you need to do is sit back and wait for interview invites to roll in. Seriously, GREAT JOB...I hope I do as well on Oct. 8!!

What schools did you apply to and when did you send out your application?

AJY, your scores are great. An AA of 20, PAT of 20- awesome scores. It's not like your bio and ochem scores are 16's or below. They are probably at the national average or higher. You did not F-up. Definitely not. Good job on ur DAT. 👍

awesome scores, great job. Oh, and by the way; I'd take it easy on myself, you did a great job, and you should be proud of yourself.

****ty GPA? well, welcome to the biochemistry club. Whenever anyone says biochemistry, I think of advanced mathematics, and calculus based physics; oh and the number one; physical chemistry or physical biochemistry. And the adcoms know that. So take it easy and give yourself a pat on the back buddy; you earned it.

"WTF?" - wtf? you did great! bump some bass to celebrate! I know you're gonna get interview invites for sure!

ajy1013 what a loser, thats what you want hear right! :laugh:

your scores are good, there a lot of people on here who would love scores like that! straight up. good job.

hey guys. thanks for all your feedback. i meant to reply earlier but i haven't been near a computer for a couple weeks.

i guess i'm getting really paranoid. i have nothing else to do except wait for rejection or interview letters because i have already finished school. i guess i'm preparing myself for the worst case scenario, which would be that my stats just aren't good enough to get in. but i am really concerned with my science scores. i've read through previous threads over the past few weeks and i have come to the conclusion that without a 20 or above average on the science portion for a pre-dental candidate with a subpar GPA, like myself, i am more likely to receive a 'i regret to inform you but...' letter. well, lets see what happens a couple weeks from now. thanks again for all your feedback once again. and if anyone else has anything to add, negative or positive, thanks in advance. i'm ready to accept the brutal reality of dental school admissions statistics...

hockeydentist, i've been called a loser all my life...ok, i'm going to drown myself now...

hahaha! thanks for your 'kind' words! 👍

ok, i got my aadsas confirmation packet in the mail and i guess my estimations of my gpa(s) was off. according to aadsas, my overall is 2.97, sci. is 2.69, bcp is 2.73 and non-sci. is 3.45.

so far, i got two rejections, which were from loma linda and ucsf. the letters stated that my gpa was not 'competitive enough.' my top choice is ASDOH, as i am a az resident, i don't plan on living anywhere else but az, and the school's goals and expectations of their students has made me a big fan of this school.

i have received post cards and secondary applications from various schools requesting i pay their app. fees. considering i have received rejections from two schools so early, would it be crazy to assume that all these other schools are only asking for app. fees to make money off of my broke ass and that i should be expecting more rejections in coming few weeks?

my question to all you guys is this: do i still have a chance with my gpa and my dat scores (listed at the beginning of this thread)? should i take additional upper-division science courses to raise my gpa? taking extra science courses was a suggestion by the OHSU dean when i spoke to him over the phone. but their stats are off the charts as far as the avg. gpa of last year's class, so i decided not to send in my app. fee to that school.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks. 👍

1st do you have any trends in your grades such as a recent string of A's and B's? GPA does not tell the whole story. If you show recent improvement most admissions committees will over look a poor early performance. Also you need to tell us to which schools you applied.

i believe that my gpa increased progressively towards the end. the schools i applied to that i remember off the top of my head are: Az, UNLV, SC, Tufts, Case, Boston, Nova, Louisville, Marquette, CU, UCLA, Pacific, Penn, Pitt, Creighton, and a few others that I am too lazy to look up.

If you have the money pick your 10 best and go for it! Your DAT is solid and your GPA is above the min.

so in your opinion, you think i got a shot with those schools? my top three are az, pacific, and unlv.

i wonder how your TS is a 20. i got 18 for Bio, 21 for GChem, and 19 for OChem and got a 19 for TS.

total score = 20 (i think. its a avg. of the AA and PA right?) total sci. = 19

I should have clarified. I mean the 10 schools with which your stats match up best. Pacific may be out b/c it is late in the game. I would not pursue Colorado. AZ only if you have significant life experience. UCLA is a toss up. They like high DAT scores and GPA. If you are in state it is worth a shot. Boston, Tufts, Case, Marquette, Creighton, Pitt are all great schools and will probably look for trends in your GPA and will alos look closely at whay you did outside of school. I don't know about Penn. It is Ivy so you decide. Louisville is a great school but remember it is state funded and prefers instate students so competition will be tight.

Yeah, you might have a chance. a 20/22/19 is a great score. Nice job on the bio!

I don't know.. your SciGPA is pretty low. your TS score is definitely good, but I don't know if it will be enough to make up for a 2.7sci.
