Hi everyone,
I noticed that Kaplan offers PCAT prep classes. It costs $1299, for about a month or so, with classes 2 days a week.

Has anyone taken this course? Has it helped you on the PCAT?

Hey

===>>OPINION AND DESCRIPTION OF KAPLAN COURSE

The KAPLAN course helped alot. There are three full length exams(Exam I: Diagnostic, Exam II: Midterm, Exam III: Final). They were actually a little more challenging than the actual exam. The test is graded immediately after you are finished. The computer gives you a print out summary of your performance 😀.

Basically, it summarizes your performance on each area of the test; what percent you got right in each sub-topic and your scaled and composite scores.
. (e.g Biology: scaled score: 455 Micro:80% correct Genetics: 60% correct etc). Each print out shows your performance in the form of bar charts that compare the performance on the current test with the earlier test. This allows you to see PROGRESS and THE PAY OFF of your studies. However, you should not pay too much attention to your actual score that is get too much of a boost of confidence or dissappointment, just continue studying diligently.

===>>STUDYING:

Kaplan gives you a detailed science review book and a verbal+math review book. They go through each topic in the various sections. This allows you to organize your studying. They are also many PCAT practice subject test and workshops on your online account. This provides you with a great deal of practice.

===>>WHEN TO TAKE THE COURSE

If you decide to do the course , DO NOT TAKE it while taking a full course load. I have read many post written by dissappointed students who complained that the "course was not worth it because the volume was too immense to balance with a full course load and work "( they should have researched KAPLAN course before investing $1300!)

Hope this helps,

fifteen1 😀

I completely agree with your opinion. If taken not with a course load it is easier even if not taking other courses, because I work full-time and my job is flexible and it is still a big load. I think the course really helps me, especially since I have taken some of the courses a while back. They really give good tips that helps you remember. I have not taken the PCAT but hopefully when I do, my score is much better. The decision is up to each and every individual. Also, I think if I get a high score on the exam it would be worth my money. I am more worried about not scoring high then the $1300.00 for the course.

Hope this helps too.

If I were studying for the PCAT again I would have ordered material from www.pcatprepclass.com They have a class that you attend but if you are unable to attend you can buy the material for 300 bucks online. I did not find out until after the fact that you can buy the material online and you don't have to attend the class. Get three people to throw in and make some copies- 100 bucks each. I would have also looked at MCAT books, there are the many of the same sections in MCAT that are in PCAT. Don't just limit yourself to PCAT books.

Hi guys,
Thank you all for the replies. I definitely glad I asked before paying all that money.

i would def take it, the online one is so much better since u study at ur own pace and dont have to be bogged down. i went from a 70 to 85, 3 weeks using the kplan . verbal went from 20%to 63. reading went from 30 to 87,. u can see my other thread bout my scores. i took the online course and i have 25 exams saved which is the online stuff, not the book or the other material just plain practice exams. if intrsted pm me

kaplan course = crap

the lecturer basically reads out of the lesson book...and as for the information, you can just buy the kaplan PCAT book or buy the ExamKrackers MCAT book and study off that...because basically all they do is lecture on the basic concepts that you can study yourself

i signed up for the course and i requested a refund after 2 class meetings. defintely not woth 1300 bucks in my opinion

not worth the money unless you have not had your prereqs in a while it is not worth the money. Most in my class had graduated years ago and it was like a refresher. You are better off studying on your own beacuse that is what most of the class is anyway I wasted 1300 dollars and i am really dissapointed. i whish I had asked before I took it i can never get that money back. just buy several studie books and study on your own. there are planty of practice exams you can buy for way less than $1300
