Hi everyone,

What did you get on the Kaplan Test Drive and then end up getting on the real thing?

Thanks!!

sorry I didn't see this thread until now. I took the Test Drive last week and I took the real MCAT last April 2001. I got a 22 (6,8,8) on the test drive and a 27 (9,9,9) on the real thing

so don't worry, kaplan's is harder! :)

9V, 8P, 13B on last Feb's Kaplan Test Drive.

12V, 10p, 11B on the April MCAT.

Hi guys, please keep posting some comparisons
Also, how much did you study in between Feb and April?

Kaplans test drive 2/02 8,7,8
Real thing 8/01 6,10,10

I thought the sciences were definitely harder in the practice MCAT, but the verbal was ok! A month before the MCAT, I would just do problems like crazy, not really review as much, seeing that that should have been done already...PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, specially the VERBAL!!!!

Also, how much did you study in between Feb and April?•••••I took Kaplan, and my class started Feb 4th last year, so I realy got into studying around Feb 15th. I went to the library everyday and tried to get through the assigned readings. If you're in a Kaplan course, try to keep up with all the stuff they assign, especially practice questions (I didn't). It's important that you don't skip over anything that you don't understand, and keep doing mcat-like passages throughout your study process. And don't forget to take the AAMC tests, and do them backwards so you do the most recent ones first.

And buy a beep-less stopwatch for test day so you can really know how long you have for each section.

And don't overdose on caffeine and get a vision-blurring migraine during the BS section on test day like I did----measure those teaspons of instant-coffee! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

p.s. If you want another comparison, I got a 15 (5,5,5) on TPR free practice full length (in October 2000) and a 15 (5,4,6) on Kaplan's diagnostic (in Feb 2001)

The Kaplan tests gave a fairly accurate estimate for me of my real performance. On the practice tests, I was getting in the mid-high thirties and ended up scoring in the 40's the real thing. Similarly, a lot of my friends who also took Kaplan did about the same or better on the real MCAT as they had done on the practice. The verbal and biological sciences sections were fairly similar on the Kaplan and real MCAT. The verbal may have been slightly more difficult on the real MCAT. I heard that next year that they're going to revive the 15 perfect score for the verbal instead of the 13-15, so I'm not sure how that changes the Kaplan scale relative to the real thing. The physical sciences section on the real MCAT had much easier problems than the Kaplan practice tests, but you can get fewer questions wrong to do well. (I found that while I had a difficult time finishing the physical sciences section on the Kaplan, I finished about 30 minutes early on the real thing.) Anyway, good luck!! Don't stress too much.

I believe the Test Drives are too hard and your time is better spent with a full length AAMC exam if you want to know how much studying you're going to need to do.
