Hey everyone, in a HIV immunocompromised patient, how can one tell in the vignette the difference btwn HHV8 induced Kaposi's sarcoma vs. Bacillary Angiomatosis. Thanks!

the question really is how to tell from the presentation. they may not necessarily give you the causative agent or the histopathology. The two clues that come to my mind for bacillary angiomatosis are 1) exposure to cats (or lice for B. quintana) and 2) liver involvement manifested as jaundice and hepatomegaly. otherwise, especially in a gay dude, I'd go with KS.

thanks you guys were both helpful! I didn't realize that there was liver involvement in B.A., cool!
