I'm a 4th year med student at the American University of the Caribbean.I missed the 2000 match because I started school Jan. 1997.I will finish electives in Sept.2000 and have an ECFMG certificate soon after.Should I keep busy(eg.externship or observational)between Sept. and match time 2001? Would it hurt my chances at getting a residency(in internal medicine)if I spent my time doing something non-medical?
