Kenya or Physics?

So I have to decide in 2 days whether or not I will be going to Kenya to do research for my anthro BA or whether I should stay in the states and take physics. My states are quite low (3.15 sGPA, with 2 retakes, 3.35 total, top 10 school) and if I were to take physics over the summer I could take 2 extra science classes next year. On the other hand, I would be missing out on an interesting opportunity and the chance to write an honors thesis. I plan on applying to smps (OSU medpath, GEMS, siumedprep) next year after the MCAT. I would appreciate ANY input

It sounds like an interesting thesis project and experience that could help you stand out in the minds of adcomms. If you'll be doing potentially publishable work, you'd also have something to list under Research, which will help your application ultimately as well.
