I have recently become interested in a particular disease field and plan to apply to MD/PhD programs to pursue my PhD in this field. However, I don't have any previous research experience in this field. I do have plenty of research experience and have learned many of the techniques that would be used. I have a few personal reasons for this new interest, but mainly it is just an intellectual fascination. I don't plan on switching labs and I'm wondering if my lack of experience will hurt me in applications when I mention my research interests. Should I just mention my current research as future interests? (I know that's bad) Should I mention both?

Mention whatever you're interested in. It's expected MD/PhDs will often switch their research interests from undergrad to grad. You're certainly not being held to continuing your undergrad research.
