OK I have to vent some more about this because it is ridiculous. I just got my mail (I've been lazy today because I've come down with costochondritis and I feel icky), and I was saddened to see that I got a thin envelope from Rush Medical College. I thought to myself, well they said I was on hold until March... Maybe they rejected me early. I was totally thinking this was going to be a "why on earth did you apply to our school because you SUCK!" letter... until I opened it. Well, on the letter, my last name was spelled wrong. This is a common occurrence, but it annoys me every time it happens-- especially since I know my name was spelled correctly on the other correspondence I've received from Rush. It wasn't even the usual misspelling, which is an extra "n," they actually put an strange "ng" combination in my last name. How they came up with that, especially since my name is spelled correctly on the envelope, is beyond me.

So, I think Rush has become my hated school this year. Last year, it was USC who spelled my name wrong and became my hated school. I mean, I don't hate Rush enough to withdraw my application, but that is really annoying. It makes me want to do the same thing to them, but I can't for the life of me think how to misspell Rush. Grrr....

that is pretty ridiculous. On a rejection I received, my name was trailing off the sticky on the envelope so that only half my name was on it...they don't have nearly the care in corresponding with us as we do with them! they don't deserve our time!
but I can't tell from your post what the letter actually said!

You forgot to say what the letter said silly....

Hey, you've got a name everybody knows how to spell. I get my name wrong at least once a week. After long enough, you get pretty pissed off at it. Especially since my name is only four letters long...

Okay, I got a thin letter from Rush today, but glory be! Not a rejection, but a "put-on-hold-for-interview"...but I don't hate 'em for it! 😀

Yes. I think I paid enough money that they should spell it right. I mean, it was spelled right on the envelope, so that should have been a big clue to whoever wrote the letter. Spelling someone's name right isn't rocket science. It's insulting that I wasn't important enough for them to take the time to correct it. My name isn't quite as easy as Jane Smith, but it's not much more difficult. Although, if my name was Jane Smith and they spelled it wrong, I think I'd still be angry.

And it was a letter telling me I was on-hold for an interview, which I have known for over a month now. I thought they kept a record of when we call them up and annoy them. I guess not.

Thanks for the ideas Trek 😉
