hey guys,

I've seen alot of schools that say that a gpa over 3.0 in last 60 hrs is fine. My first 3yrs in school were bad.. i actually started off good my freshman year but my soph and jun year i totally messed up. I had to leave school for a year to re-group myself. Im back now and my last 74hrs have been a 4.0. and im graduating soon. Do you think it will be enough for pharm schools?

Ya that is very good as long as your overall is still above minimum but GPA is only one part of the application so who knows if it will be enough, depends on your application as a whole.

i actually have a question about the last 60 credit hours thing...if you go backwards in my academic career, most recent to 60 credit hours ago, i'll hit 60 with about 3 more classes to go in a particular quarter/semester.

don't get it? it's like... quantum states and electrons, i can't have 60... i'm at like 55 units and then when i jump to the next quarter i'm like at 70 units. So for example, for Pacific U...do I list most recent 55? or most recent 70?

If you have 55 units, then you're fine for Pacific U's recent gpa calculation.. It's the most recent 45 units.

I remember reading somewhere on the site that if you hit 45 units in the middle of a semester, you can choose the better grades of that semester or use the higher number (55 units in your case). I can't find the link to the page though and I'm too sleepy to search for it now. If you're still wondering after sifting through the site, try contacting them. They responded to a question of mine fairly quickly.

4.0 for the last 60 hrs definitely qualifies as a "strong upward trend", which means adcoms probably won't hold your first 3 years against you. all that means, however, is that they won't immediately deny you acceptance due to overall gpa. you'll still need something else [high pcat, great lor's, lot's of experience] to stand out among those people who don't have gpa deficiencies. congrats on the recovery!
