Hey everyone, need some help here. Only recently decided to apply to IM and wondering where I have a shot at. I know I want to do GI and want to get into an academic program. Here's my stats. Any input (no matter how harsh) appreciated:
Home School: Texas (Not Houston or Southwestern)
Grades: Top 1/3 of class. No junior AOA but was nominated. Clinical Honors only in IM with 93%.
Step1: 236
Step2: 253
Research: 2 poster presentations and 2 publications in Oncology journals
Other: Gold Humanism Honor Society (does that help at all?), lots of leadership positions and volunteer work.
Geographically speaking, only ruling out the gulf coast. I plan to apply to about 30 programs per my assistant dean.
What do I realistically have a shot at? WashU? Hopkins? or should I aim lower?
