UTSW is more established and will lead to a more conservative opportunity to get a good residency provided you make use of the resources there. They're already good and well known. They have nothing to prove. Dell still needs to prove itself. Yes, UT is a phenomenal school. But just because you put a UT label on the school doesn't mean the med school is caught up with UT as a university in terms of prestige, opportunity, etc.
Who knows? Maybe in the future Dell passes UTSW. But a school that is in its second year won't be doing that today. It's just like how all the people that went to Harvard in the 1700s didn't get an internationally elite education as they would have if they went today. Invest in the present, not on what the prospect of the name might be.
