Taking my DAT on Fri.... I am nervous and jittery, but i think i have studied all i can. What did everyone eat the night before the BIG one?

DO NOT EAT CHINESE FOOD!!!! I had tofu in black sauce and had a serious bowel problem the next morning. I was going through the test as quick as I could so I could get some Imodium A-D from the store.

hahaha! I am Chinese so i should be immune to bad chinese food attacks. But I think I am going to eat something light. Maybe a big salad w/ some pasta.

SloppyJoe,

Good luck to you. I take mine on Saturday. I know the anxiety that you are going through, it seriously sucks. Let us know how you did and give us a review of what you thought. Anything helps. Good luck!

Yea, definitely eat light the night before. Intestinal distress during the exam can be very detrimental... And embarrassing, LOL.

The key is to eat the right breakfast before the test. Load up on complex carbos so you will have the energy to last the day. Grab some nice hash browns for breakfast and add a cornbread, some coffee for the caffeine kick, but minimize the refined sugars.

The complex carbos will take a while to digest, keeping your blood sugar constant throughout the morning, rather than the 15-minute high and crash of refined sugars (sweetened cereals are the worst offenders).

Methyl xanthines (caffeine) will keep your energy metabolism high and make you more alert.

A Trail Mix bar or two during breaks (if allowed by the proctors) can do wonders for stamina during the last few desperate hours too.

Worked for me, obviously... 😀

I agree that breakfast is way more important than dinner. It's not as if this test is some marathon, you don't need to carbo load or anything like that the night before. Breakfast on the other hand is important since you don't want something too heavy that will make you sleepy during the test.

For my breakfast, I got a sausage egg McMuffin and an OJ. It seemed to work for me.

Nic and sloppyjoe,

Best of luck to both of you. I was in your shoes a few weeks ago so I feel your pain but believe me when its all over it'll be the best feeling! I recommend giong to a denny's or IHOP in the morning and get something really light. Then drink a energy drink with your food. I'm sure you'll both ace the test.

Thanks for the kind words. My test is at 8, so i don't have time to goto a restaurant. I think a couple of bagels and adrenaline will help me thru the test. Good luck to u Nicholas!

Take a good rest before the test, sleep at 10 pm and get up at
6 am. Go with full energy (have some moderate breakfast, carry
an energy bar and something to drink) and attack the test. All the
best to u. I am sure u will do great...let us know how u did...
