I was primarily deciding between Yale and Columbia. I went to both open houses, and was more impressed with Columbia's program. I ultimately decided on Columbia because it really seems like the range in classes is much more extensive, therefore I can further tailor my degree to my interests. Additionally, all of the professors that spoke just seemed so passionate about their research, and the potential opportunities to get involved in some really innovative work in the field in NYC just seem to surpass those that would be available in New Haven. It didn't hurt that all of my friends will be in NYC next year as well, though there is the obvious downside that the cost of living is much higher, and Columbia offered me $5K less in grant money. However, I really think it is a better choice for me in the long run - I think this is a really personal decision though, and can't speak for other programs/people. Hope this was helpful!
