Hi, I'm a med student with bilateral corneal transplants due to lattice corneal dystrophy. Wondering if any of you out there know what my chances are of keeping the vision I have now. The glare and slight distortion I have makes it impossible for me to consider residencies in things like Ophtho or Path, but my heart is set on Radiology. Seems being in the dark helps me see better anyway, but I am a bit nervous of going into a visually demanding field. I looked around but found little on prognosis and I have already some recurrence of lattice on one eye, which seems to be frequent. I ask my ophthalmologist, but can't get a straight answer. So putting it out there, opinions on prognosis, chances of success after multiple transplants, issues I should consider, any comments appreciated.

I'd bet the reason you can't get a straight answer is because it's very difficult in these cases to give people an exact percentage. If you're not happy with the answer you got, I'd go to a different cornea specialist and ask there as well instead of on the internet where no one can examine your eyes.
