A recent patient encounter has made me curious about the following.

If a patient names all the docs on your team in a lawsuit while you're training and the claim gets tossed out (say the patient has borderline personality disorder), will that adversely affect you in the future?

Also, are there certain subspecialties that attract lawsuits more so than others?

If the claim is dismissed, or your name is removed from the suit, then in general it does not get reported to the NPDB or other reporting agencies.

Yes, some fields have much higher rates of lawsuits. OB is one.
