Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to the forum, and wanted to hear from others who will be starting at LECOM in the fall. I know that there is another thread on this topic, but being as it is on page 4 or 5, I'd bet its safe to pronounce it!

Hope to here from all LECOM 2006'ers!!!

Hi there! I will be attending LECOM in the fall also. Have you found a place to live yet? What pathway is everyone in? When are you moving to Erie? Has anyone started computer shopping yet? I can't wait to start.. I am excited to meet everyone and see what Erie is like! Anyone have any info to share?

I'm not a LECOM class of 2006'er (I'm a class of 2005'er taking a break from studying for a neuro exam) but I just wanted to tell you guys congrats! As for what living in Erie is like, all I can say is, get ready for the winter! Unless, of course, you're from a place that gets a ton of snow and then you'll be already used to it. Erie is a nice place to live, though, and I'm sure that you'll like LECOM.

:D

I'll be attending LECOM-LBP in the fall as well. I can't wait to start! I've decided to live in Granada since they are close to campus and pretty nice apartments. I haven't started computer shopping. I had a laptop from my days as an undergrad, but it unfortuanately isn't fast enough, so I'm going to wait until June until I save enough money for a new one.

DOtobe,
is Erie at least acting like spring now? Snow is still creeping in every so often in Michigan!

Hey Guys,

I've also been accepted to LECOM for the class of 2006. I am not 100% sure yet if I will actually be attending LECOM next year because I am still waiting to hear from other schools. I was also very excited about a possibility of going there next year, but my excitement went away after talking with several LECOM students from this board. They all told me that when you go for an interview, LECOM makes a great impression on their potential students, but when they start attending their school everything suddenly changes. They are not as nice as we think they are (I don't want to go into details here).

I was a little disappointed to hear all the negative comments about LECOM, but I am glad that at least I know what I am getting into if I have to go to LECOM next year. Good Luck to all of you guys. You can email me at [email protected] or IM me at RussnZorro.

Esmeralda,
Yes, Erie is FINALLY acting like spring!!!! :D :D :D
You'll probably have a lot of fellow classmates who live in Grenada, because I know that there are a ton of people in my class that live there.
As for the negative comments about LECOM, of course there are some things about the school that some of us don't like. But I'm sure you will have that whatever school you go to. Another thing that would fuel our negative thinking is that we are all so BURNED OUT (we didn't get a spring break this year ). We're all a little jaded right now (especially since the PBLs are already done  )!

Hey Do2be,
Could you post what the academic calendar for lecom is like? It seems to be a big secret when I call there, and it is not easy to find anywhere else. What is the deal with PBL being done? Does this pathway have a different calendar? I am planning on this pathway.. what do you think of it? Do you guys always go without spring break? Thanks for your help!

Hey Hermione,
I am going to be a PBL'r too. I know that orientation will start around July 31. As for a diffrent schedule for PBL, the last two years they have been on a different schedule, but this year, all pathways are starting together, with Anatomy/Embryo for 12 weeks. Good Luck

Hermione,
Sorry it took me awhile to respond. The neurosensory system is killing me...
I can't really comment much on the PBL's schedule because I am in the LDP pathway. I have no idea how their schedule works. If theirs is anything like ours, we have anatomy, embryology, and OMM for the whole first semester, and then for part of the semester we have micro, path, pharm, and all the other core classes. Although they are supposed to change it for next year's class (at least for the LDPs) where you do anatomy, histology, and embryo first and then continue on with the other core classes.
As for the spring break, I think this is the first year we haven't had one. They wanted to give the second years more time to study for the boards. It is slowly killing me though I am definitely ready for summer.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help concerning the PBL schedule. I'm not sure if there are any PBL people on SDN, but hopefully there are and you will get a more accurate answer.
Good luck! :D

wbadb,
I didn't notice your post - you have more info than me! I had forgotten that next year everyone is starting at the same time. My brain is not functioning - we had an exam today and I was a little bothered by some parts of it...

Thanks guys, for your replies. I appreciate it. I guess that it is finally confirmed that we start orientation on July 31. I can't wait to get started. Anyone have any housing info? I was considering Tanglewood, because I have a dog who I cannot leave behind, and they allow pets. Do you guys know of anywhere else that you might recommend?
