I got accepted to LECOM Erie LDP back in September and paid my deposit but I recently got accepted to Touro Middletown, so now I have a difficult choice to make. I'll list my main pros and cons but if anyone knows about these schools and could add to my list I'd appreciate it!

LECOM pros:

-More established school
-Tuition 20,000 less than Touro
-free gym/pool membership at a state of the art health center
- closer to my fiancé
- have heard they have their own teaching hospital

LECOM cons:

-from what I've heard not very relaxed school (dress code, tons of rules, mandatory lectures)
-very big brother-esque

Touro pros:

-Short distance to NYC
-New Orange Regional Medical Center
- I really enjoyed my interview day, faculty was warm and welcoming

Touro cons:

-50,000 for tuition 🙁
-not a school that's been around for a while
- have heard negative things from a few friends, but it was abt the Harlem campus, idk if it would apply to Middletown but I know both campuses work together on a lot of things
- $2000 deposit

If I'm being honest I've done minimal research on these schools so I'm speaking to what I saw on interview day. At the end of the day, I’d like to match into a semi competitive speciality and have good quality rotation sites so whichever school can help me achieve those is the one for me. Also if anyone has info regarding research at either school, feel free to comment below.

Any advice on which to choose???

I'll add that Middletown is essentially the suburbs of NYC and a rather expensive area of the country to live in, regardless of where you're coming from. By contrast, Erie is more affordable than most places in the country. It's hard to quantify this difference exactly because it depends on your personal loan needs. However, Touro-Middletown has a yearly TCA north of 103k if you can't do their on-campus apartments. LECOM-Erie won't come anywhere near that.

I've been accepted to Touro-Middletown as well and would take LECOM-Erie in a heartbeat if accepted there, based on the cumulative debt figure differential between the two alone. However, to your point, quality of clinical rotations is equally important to me. I'd love to hear what those recently through yr 3 at LECOM-Erie or Touro-Middletown have to say on this front.

My background: I interviewed and was accepted to both of these schools, I grew up somewhat close to Middletown

If it were between these two school, I would definitely have picked touro. I got better vibes from students and faculty on my interview day in Middletown. I also could not image adhering to all the dumb rules at LECOM. No water in the lectures halls during mandatory lecture? Required business casual? I felt these childish rules were disrespectful to students to be honest because they only make our already stressful lives more stressful. It also depends where you want to match. Touro has generated a pretty good reputation in NYC and if you're a personable person and rotate at hospitals in the NYC area and build relationships there, you will likely match in NYC. LECOM I think maybe carries a better national name (more people have heard of it). Most of my friends at Touro were able to secure research but were mostly on their own to find opportunities at places like Sinai or NYU
