I was wondering if anybody knew of LECOM's schedule. How often are tests, when are vacations, when do we get out, etc??
Any detailed information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!😱

I would also like to know!

MSI's and others interested:
The school year begins at the beginning of August (something like August 4th this year). If you're a first-year student, you'll be coming in earlier for orientation (should have received that info by now I would think). You get off for labor day I believe, and I think also for Columbus Day, though I'm not positive on that one. For Thanksgiving I think we had off the day before Thanksgiving and then that weekend. For winter/Christmas break, we ended about Dec. 20th this year. You will then have off the first week in January. In the spring term, you have off for MLK Jr. Day and President's Day. This year the schedule was changed around mid-term so we had off Good Friday as well (though it wasn't like that in the beginning of the term). That's it-no Spring break (don't I wish). School ended this year on May 16th. This is coming from the LDP perspective. Other pathways I'm not completely sure about.

As far as testing goes, it depends which pathway you're in. I'm in LDP, so I can only comment on that. For anatomy there are 5 tests approximately every 2 weeks. You will have both the written and the practical in the same morning. This year we got the afternoon off after the anatomy tests. Once core starts, there are 6 tests total I believe. Again, about every 2 weeks for most tests (sometimes two tests in two weeks). In systems, it depends on the system, but a good estimate is 1 test every 1-2 weeks. For Derm, the first system, there are only 2 tests because it's only two weeks long. For Musculoskeletal system, it was 4 weeks and there were 2 tests. For Neurosensory system, it was 10 weeks, and there were 5 exams (plus a group case study project).

Each term you will also have OMM. 4 tests per semester for OMM. The OMM finals are cummulative to date (our final in May was for the entire year). These tests also include the practical (that's P/F). Please remember too, that there are smaller classes mixed in with the major coursework-Healthcare Management (second semester for MSI's), Medical Ethics, Spirituality and Medicine, and H&P/OPEP (the MSI 2nd semester clinical medicine/diagnosis course). These each had 1-2 exams and they were pretty easy. Some of these are repeated during MSII with more extensive topics.

Hope that answered your questions. Please feel free to post any other questions you may have.

new MSII!

PBL is the pretty much the same deal as far as anatomy, omm, and short courses. We get all the same breaks (or lack there of, for spring break!), but instead of systems we have PBL exams, 4 each semester, which is one every 5-6 weeks. It means each exam is huge and worth a whole lot toward your grade, but it also gives you lots of prep time.
Other than that, our schedule is the same as LDP. (Minus that whole pesky "lecture" thing, of course!😀 )

As a New MSIII, just wanted to say that if you do LDP, as an MSII be prepared for a test EVERY monday, in systems. I believe that of the 20 weeks of the semester, we had 4 mondays without tests and 2 of them were holidays. Of those off mondays we still had tests during those weeks. This made you stay up on studying, though. No "time off" weekends like ISP or PBL.
