Length of EM Residency

I know this is a total noob question, but I tried searching the FAQ and couldn't find my answer there. Just how long is an EM residency in the US? It's 5 years in Canada...same there?

Depends on the residency program and can be 3 or 4 years. However, the majority of U.S. programs are 3 years long.

Wow, really? I wonder why there is such a difference in length between our programs. Maybe they just have to teach us Canadians much slowwweerrrr. 😀 😉

this seems to be a recurring theme throughout much of the world in comparison. how many hours is average for each week in your residency?

I'm not a resident, so I don't know. They have a general overlay of the five years at this webpage:

That is specifically for the EM program at my school (UBC).

Hmmmm...

An even more satisfying debate revolves around the merit of three vs. four year EM residencies! ..I am, however, NOT going to start that thread.
