Hey all,

Quick question about secondaries. I know this is a relative question, but about how long should a secondary be?

For a question that says "briefly describe an experience" blah blah, or "Discuss briefly a time when" blah blah. What's an approximate word count I should aim for, but not exceed too much? 250 words? 500?

Thanks!!

Brief probably means no more than a half page in Word (which I think is about 500 words, give or take?). That being said, you might want to just aim for as short as possible while still conveying all of the necessary information. Conciseness is a valued quality in writing these days 😀

Most of the secondaries give guidelines as to approximately how many words you should write. If they don't I would make it as short and concise as possible while still giving a complete answer to whatever question they asked. The worst thing you can do is try to fill up space and end up sounding like your just rambling.
