The enormous number of active members on this board is a tremendous resource. I'm betting we could figure out individual school cut-offs if we had enough participation. Please list CA school, GPA, and MCAT, and "yes" or "no" if you received a secondary application and/or interview invitation. Has this been attempted before?

rhizoid...i agree. i'm from cali but go to school out of state and this would be helpful. you can look at the post I started earlier today about UC's and MCAT scores

Please dont get me wrong, I sincerely wish you luck in this endeavor. However, in my opinion any attempt to "figuring" out the UC med schools admission is just FUTILE. The moment you think you have them "figured" out, they will do this <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" />
Having said that, I heard/read from someone somewhere that the MCAT cut-off for UC schools is 8 across the board = 24, for 2ndary appl. But dont bet on that though :D

Yeah the UCs are really unpredictable. I thought I needed to look out of state for med schools because of my stats and the level of competiveness among Cali students. But it turned out that I had the most success in Cali.

Even within the UCs, they are unpredicatble. I got secondaries from all the UCs I applied to (which was all of them except for UCSF). I ended up getting interviews at UCSD and UCLA, but I got rejected without interview from UCD. UCI kept me on a hold list, but last week sent me the "no thanks" letter.

But the cut-offs are higher to get a UCSF secondary. In general, to secure at least the UC secondaries, your PS gotta be really good. My friend who had a 34 on the MCAT and 3.6 something GPA from Berkeley only got a secondary from Davis. His PS was a bit weak IMO.

Does anyone know if the UC's AVERAGE Mcats???

I asked an adcomm directly at UCSF. The gpa cut-off, according to her, was about 3.4, at UCSF.

I also asked the adcomm director about their gpa cutoff at UCD. He said he'd like to see "better than a 3.0" from me.

Take this for what it's worth...

I don't remember exactly, I don't think he did so hot on the verbal.
