Letter of evaluation from an OMFS?

A lot of schools ask for a LOE from a "dentist". I was wondering if a letter from an OMFS satisfies this requirement, or do they want a letter from a practicing dentist?

I believe it would count if the OMFS is still practicing and is someone that you shadowed and knows you well enough to write a letter for you.

OMFS are dentist. They have gone through dental school and beyond. If the OMFS is still in practice then their letter of recommendation would be great.
