Letter of intent/update letter

What would these letters consist of? How long would they be? Should I explain why I received a second W in biochem (because my job refused to accomodate my class schedule )? When should I send them out?

Sorry for the questions. I'm so confused and would do anything to get accepted.

I have just sent update letters to my top choice schools and schools that I have been on hold to post-interview. In my opinion you should write about a page with only positive additions to your application. Examples being more volunteering, research, new and improved grades. Don't include a bad grade in an update letter, your better off not sending anything.

Do you think it is best to snail mail these or is email acceptable?

email!!! Its faster, and I have had schools ask me more questions in addition to my LOI.
