When writing a letter of interest (pre-interview), should I send just send it to the Admissions Office, or would it be more effective to send it directly to the Dean? Both?

i was thinking about writingone too and i was going to address it to the admissions committee.

that's the way to go-- the admissions com. i just sent one out, but it was after i interviewed. i think post-interview is best, but anytime is good to show you are not passive in this whole process.🙂

i ended up sending mine to the admissions committee except for tulane's, which i addressed to dr. pisano. i started out trying to find the names of deans, etc... but then i didn't know if i should send it to the dean of admissions or the director of admissions and didn't know if the name in msar was outdated b/c i couldn't find the person on the web, etc... to make things easier, i settled on using admissions committee for the address and "dear sir or madam" as the greeting.

i did a search on this a couple of weeks ago. there are a couple of threads from last year that discuss this issue. one was started by doctora foxy i believe.

From what I understand, it's best to send it to the dean of admissions. Letters to the committee can get thrown into your application without being reviewed again for months, and you'd like the letter to be seen by the dean first.
