How many letters should we submit? and how careful do you need to be about who you choose to write them? For example, should just about any bio prof be good or should you choose the most straight laced prof? (If they all know you equally well) Good luck to all. please put the types of people and number you are getting letters from. Thanks

i think you should ask for letters only from professors that you feel will trully make a case for you. Its not the quantity its the quality. I think anywhere from 3-7 letters is plenty. Make sure at least one is from your major's dept. Aside from that, they dont all need to be from profs. they can be from anyone who knows you well enough to write a good one, assuming that person will not be viewed as overly biased in you favor (ie your mom).

Good luck,

5 is a good number to have. if you have 5 letters you should be able to fit every med school's LOR# range.

aim for 3 science letters from professors that have taught you
1 humanities letter from a prof that has taught you
1 EC/research letter from your supervisor.

If you can get more in each of those fields then more power to you.

2 science professors is almost always enough, 1 more from humanities. Get another one from research and one from clinical EC if possible.
