What is your opinion on how admissions committees would look upon letters of recommendation sent later than others? As an example, let's say three of four letters arrive on September 1 and the fourth doesn't arrive until October 1. Someone gave me the opinion that admissions committees might look at this negatively as it shows that the fourth recommender didn't put the recomendee as a priority and therefore must not really think that highly of them.

Agree or disagree?

One would have to be real arrogant (and irrational!) to think they could predict the reason why a recommender submits a letter late. C-mon, this is just silly. There are a wide # of possibilities that could result in the delay of your letter. Grab a cold one and chill, bud! 😀 😀

I also agree that it is a silly idea. However, things that were sillier than this have turned out to be true so I was just wanting to get the opinion of others.

Ok, there's way too much analyzation going on here!! We must remember that the rest of the world doesn't pick everything apart and overanalyze it like we do. mpp, whoever told you that had too much time on his/her hands. 🙄 I like to call it paranoia...

Don't worry about it!
