Hi There,
Just wanted to know about the experience of other non traditional applications with letters of recommendation.. and what is the best way to obtain good academic LOR's when u are not in a formal program and are just taking very few courses..

Can teaching assistants write those letters for you.. maybe cosigned by the prof.. how does it look?

Any advice will be appreciated..

Thanks

I'd recommend checking to see if the school you're taking classes at has a health sciences committee. If not, check with the pre-med advisor at the school you got your undergraduate degree from.

TAs can write a letter, but it really should be signed by the professor as well.

and don't be afraid to email any old profs that you remember talking too. Just explain your situation, let them know you got an A in their course and then tell them you'll meet with them to update them on what you've been doing since you left college and remind them who you are. You can just write one generic email and send it to all of them subbing in for specific details. a shotgun approach, someone is likely to answer. Don't forget to have resume and a personal statement to give to them, that helps too.
