Letting schools know about combined degree interest

Does letting a school know you're interested in getting a combined degree have any consequences? I'm interested in getting an MD/MBA and I'm guessing that it's looked down on a lot by physicians, so I was wondering if it would be in my interest not to let them know beforehand (since I'll have to apply to most of the business schools separately once I'm there anyway).

And yes I know there are some schools where its mandatory to let them know if you're interested in getting a combined degree... but those aside, any advice?
