Hey SDN Family,

I would like to know are there any SDN members that are a part of a Rotarct or Leo's Club. Both of these organizations are amazing and they do a lot in the community, locally and internationally. I wanted to know your experience thus far because I was accepted to a Leo's Club in South Korea and I can't wait to start :D.

I have not been able to locate and join a Rotaract club in the area that I actually go to school in; however, throughout high school I was a part of Interact, the high school version of Rotary/Rotaract, and I absolutely loved it. We independently (self-funded, self-organized) ran a lot of fundraisers, drives (food, coat, toy, etc), walks, activities for the elderly in nursing homes and the special needs within our school, etc; however, we also got to participate in a lot of stuff that went above and beyond the usual high school volunteerism. As an example, we had yearly conferences within the United Nations, in which all sorts of people - politicians, victims of illness/conflict/natural disaster from Third World countries, CEOs, major biomedical researchers, etc - would come to speak, give presentations and talk with us.

Anyway, I hope to be able to rejoin the community, as a Rotaract member, sometime in the future.

Wow, that's great Star and I was going to join a Rotaract club in my undergraduate area but I already graduated. I know Rotary and Lion's Club are the two prestigious community service organizations. I also applied to the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship my senior year in college but they no longer funded Oxford  so I withdrew my application. To become a part of Rotary is by invitation-only and the people who are a part of these two orgs are really doing some substantial work in the community. Have you looked into the Lion's Club which has more members than Rotary, even though Rotary was founded first. I like the components Lion's Club focus on more than Rotary. I am in the process of becoming a Leo's Member (which is for people who are below 30) and then join Lion's and Rotary in the near future :).
