I also wanted to ask anyone living in East Falls how they liked the area. Is it safe to walk from the shuttle stop to Alden Park for example, at night when daylight savings kicks in? I was thinking about living there but I dont have a car so I would have to walk over. I know its like a 10 minute walk but Id like to know how safe it is.
Thanks~

I'm relatively familiar with the area. East Falls is reasonably safe. I wouldn't anticipate walking within the area to be too much of a problem. For this reason, and the fact that housing is relatively inexpensive in the area, East Falls attracts a lot of medical students from Temple and Drexel.

hey sidewalkman,
im sendin you a PM

I'm from Philly and also going to the IMS. Here's my opinion. East Falls is pretty nice and inexpensive. I would only live there if I didn't have a car, though as I'd rather live in the city. And the daily commute for 8AM classes would kill me. The Fairmount Park area has had its share of 'incidents' so I wouldn't recommend walking or running alone. But it's not like you fear for your safety there, either. Unfortunately, no matter where you live you should be smart/wary, especially if you're a woman. Also, if you're worried about grocery stores, Drexel COM has NOTHING near it. See how you like living in center city this year and I hope that you have to make this decision next year by getting into Drexel Med!
